ARTIST STATEMENT

Throughout my life I have often grappled with feelings of guilt around pursuing my creative path, questioning the validity of art as a career amongst societal expectations. Could passion and work should coincide? Is work actually allowed to be fun? Or must it be something that possesses our lives 9-5, Monday to Friday, when finally we are released to our true selves on the weekends?

Exploring these concepts I decided to lean into working with a joyous approach. Finally resolving that work and play are not mutually exclusive, but rather integral parts of a balanced existence, and how on a deeper level self expression may help to facilitate a clearer understanding of both ourselves and our environment and the society we live in.
